Jillian recently highlighted exciting work from the Hammarström group at Uppsala University in a Nature Chemistry ‘News and Views’ article. In the article discussed, Bourrez, Steinmetz, Gloaguen and Hammarström describe successful efforts to control the PCET energy landscape — and thus dictate the reaction pathways — of a metal hydride complex. This work is the first observation of a concerted PCET process in a metal hydride complex and an important milestone for scientists interested in multi-electron, multi-proton reactions relevant to solar fuel production!
